ADULT FAITH FORMATION MINISTRY


“Nurturing loving relationships with God, self, others and the environment.”

Messiah’s Adult Faith Formation Ministry includes a variety of ways for adults to connect with other adult seekers on their faith journey. The purpose of these groups and classes is to support and encourage each other’s growth in faith, hope, trust and love of God, self, others and our environment.

We strive to follow the lessons and examples on how to love that are given to us in the Holy Scriptures. Examples from contemporary spiritual writers are often included as well.

SUNDAY MORNING ADULT CLASSES
  Sunday Morning Adult Classes are held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM and 10:45-11:45 AM in the Adult Education Room in the education wing. In the 9:30 class, participants explore scripture texts from both Old and New Testaments and apply God’s Word to everyday life experiences. Spiritual writings of modern authors are read and discussed in the 10:45 group. Attendance is open-ended and new members are welcomed at any time. Contact Kay Morrissey for more information:

MESSIAH NIGHT CLASSES
  Messiah Night Adult Classes are 6:30-7:30 PM on Wednesday evenings September through May, and immediately follow the Family Meal which is served at 5:30 PM. These classes focus on a variety of faith growth topics. Any given series may run for one evening or from six to eight sessions. Presenters are either from Messiah’s leadership pool, or come to us from other areas of the city (e.g. seminaries, universities, religious communities) as professionals in their field of expertise. MBA MEN'S BREAKFAST GROUP
  Breakfast and study/discussion for men. Meets every Thursday morning from 6:30 to 7:30 am in Fellowship Hall from September thru May. Led by Pastor Karl and Jim Wilson. Inquire at 614.866.4386 or pastorkarl@messiahlutheran.net
PASTOR'S WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY
  Study and discussion on the Scriptures for EVERYONE. Meets from 11:15 to 12:15 AM in Sacristy Lounge, September thru May. Led by Pastor Karl. pastorkarl@messiahlutheran.net
MOM'S BOOK STUDY CLUB
  MOM’s (Mothers of Messiah) get together with other mothers and have adult conversations while reading stimulating and challenging books that make us dive deeper into our faith. FELLOWSHIP TEAM

  Meet monthly for luncheons and fellowship. Other activities are planned throughout the

CHEERS GROUP
  “A Place Where Everybody Knows Your Name!” Circles of Messiah friends who care about each other, and who pray with and for each other. Groups of 8 to 10 meet monthly in homes of members to share dessert and friendship building. Other activities may be planned by individual CHEERS! groups. Contact Kay Morrissey for more information:

BOOK STUDY GROUPS
  Periodically, Book Study groups are formed for 6 to 8 weeks sessions. These book study groups are advertised in the Sunday bulletins and the monthly newsletter.
CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER GROUP
  For those who are interested in going deeper into the life of prayer and contemplation.

INTENTIONAL SMALL GROUPS
  Short term Small Groups are continuously forming to meet the needs of our members in various current life situations. SEASONAL RETREATS
  Women’s retreats are held in October and in April. These are announced by flyers, Sunday Bulletin Board and The MESSENGER.
